What it is
Your directory has seven resources for singles, and most purity teaching aimed at them assumes a short wait ending in marriage. Sam Allberry writes as someone for whom that has not been the story, and works through seven assumptions the church repeats: that singleness is too hard, requires a special calling, means no intimacy, means no family, hinders ministry, wastes your sexuality, and is easy to fix. His central move is theological rather than motivational — Jesus was single, Paul commended it, and a church treating marriage as the normal Christian destination has a problem with its own scriptures. That matters here for a practical reason. A single man told his sexuality is on hold until a wedding that may not come has no framework for the next decade, and pornography moves into that vacuum. This gives him something to build instead. Published by Crossway.
