Stanton sets out ten claims that make up the traditional Christian understanding of sexuality: that every person is both sinful and equally loved by God, that Jesus addressed the question through the Genesis creation account, that Scripture recognizes only male-female marriage as a legitimate sexual union, that the male-female distinction carries the image of God, and that sexual intimacy is a gift rather than a right. Points seven and ten do the most work for readers in recovery — 'temptation is not sin,' and a person's value is never reduced to their sexuality. It is a position paper rather than a pastoral care guide: it explains the reasoning, but does not walk anyone through what to do with their own experience. Best used by someone trying to articulate the historic view, or by a parent or leader preparing for a hard conversation.
