What it is

A Vision in Counseling About a year ago, I was in a counseling session, working through some personal struggles. During our talk, the counselor said he had a vision of me wearing a tattered military-style uniform underneath my regular clothes. That image struck a nerve. I sensed God showing me something I had been carrying—a false sense of strength I hadn’t fully surrendered. The uniform represented parts of my life that I had built through ungodly means. I had confidence and even authority in areas like video editing and filmmaking, skills I developed from watching tons of media—including things I shouldn’t have been watching. I gained something real, but it wasn’t built on God’s direction. I wore it like a hidden identity, tucked away under everything else, something I could pull out when I needed to feel strong. In that moment, even though nothing was physically there, I reached under my shirt and made the motion of tearing it off. And I felt a real weight lift from my body. I knew God had been waiting for me to let it go. The Armor of Christ As I walked away from the session, I had a vision of myself wearing white armor—the armor of Christ. It was clean, strong, and fully visible. It didn’t come from my effort, but from Him. I understood then that I didn’t need to hide my strength or build it from scratch. I could walk openly in what God had placed on me. That vision has stayed with me. It’s not something I “put on” every now and then—I always have it on. And no matter how I feel inside, I look tough in the Spirit. God sees me standing tall, steady, covered in His power and purity. That truth changed the way I walk with Him. Carried by the Spirit Over time, this vision has grown. Most recently, I see myself submerged in a river—the flowing presence of the Holy Spirit. I’m still wearing the armor, but now I’m moving with the current, going where God leads, fully surrounded by Him. I no longer need to hold on to man-made confidence. God’s strength covers me, and His Spirit carries me. “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God…” —Ephesians 6:10–11
