Atomic Habits (habit-stacking reference)

By James Clear

The standard reference on habit design — cue, craving, response, reward, and habit stacking. Secular and not about pornography, but it's the mechanics behind every 'replace the habit' instruction in the rest of this directory.

What it is

James Clear's book is not about pornography and makes no claim to be. It is about how habits are actually built and dismantled: the four-step loop of cue, craving, response and reward; making a desired behaviour obvious, attractive, easy and satisfying and an unwanted one the reverse; habit stacking, where a new behaviour is attached to one that already exists; and environment design, which does more work than motivation ever does. Every recovery resource in this directory tells someone to change their environment and build new routines — this is the book that explains how, in operational detail. Use it as the practical layer beneath a spiritual or clinical program, not as a substitute for one; habit design does nothing about the trauma or the shame underneath compulsive use.
