What it is
Matt Fradd is a Catholic apologist, and he wrote The Porn Myth without using a religious argument anywhere in it. The reason is tactical and sound: the person most in need of persuading has usually already dismissed the religious case, and repeating it changes nothing. So Fradd takes the standard pro-pornography claims one at a time — it's harmless, it's just fantasy, it improves sex lives, opposition is puritanical — and answers them with research, the accounts of former performers, and philosophical argument. Published by Ignatius Press. This is the book to give a college student, a skeptical friend or a classroom, and the one to read yourself if you have convictions you have never been able to defend when challenged. Pair it with Fight the New Drug, which works the same ground in shorter form and for free.
