What it is

Marnie Ferree wrote No Stones out of her own recovery and her clinical practice, and it did something the field genuinely needed: it established that women's sexual addiction exists, that it presents differently from men's, and that treating it with men's material fails. The title comes from John 8 — the woman brought for stoning — and that frame governs the book, which refuses to trade in shame while being unflinching about what the behaviour is. Ferree traces the trauma and family-of-origin histories that so often sit underneath, describes how the addiction takes relational rather than purely visual forms for many women, and sets out a recovery path. She founded Bethesda Workshops, listed separately here, and wrote the L.I.F.E. Guide for Women as the workbook companion. Published by InterVarsity Press. This is the foundational text on the subject; read it before anything else on women's recovery.
