What it is

These are the real clinical screeners, free and anonymous, grounded in Dr. Patrick Carnes's research — the foundation of the modern sex-addiction field. The Sexual Addiction Screening Test (SAST) assesses compulsive sexual behaviour that may indicate addiction. The Betrayal Bond Index measures traumatic bonding, which is the pattern that keeps a person attached to someone who is hurting them and is one of the least understood dynamics for partners. The Sexual Addiction Risk Assessment (SARA) benchmarks your answers against thousands of people already in treatment, so the result is a comparison rather than a verdict. No identifying information is collected, and you must print the report before closing the browser because results cannot be retrieved later — take the SAST first, since its score is required for SARA. The reports are designed to be taken to a therapist. For someone who cannot yet say the words out loud, an anonymous screener is often the first honest thing they do.
