If explicit images of someone were taken when they were under 18, Take It Down can get them removed. It works by generating a hash — a digital fingerprint — of the image on your own device. The picture itself is never uploaded anywhere. That hash goes to participating platforms, which then detect and block matching content on their public services. Free, anonymous, and run by the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children. Two things to know before you use it: it only reaches platforms that participate and only public, unencrypted areas of them, and it cannot help with images shared again after the fact. Anyone who was 18 or older when the image was taken needs StopNCII.org instead. This is the first thing a frightened parent or teenager should be given, and it should be findable in under thirty seconds.
