What it is
Michael Dye built the FASTER Scale from decades of counseling people through habitual sin, on the observation that relapse is preceded by subconscious emotional and behavioural shifts that are visible if you know what to look for. The six stages spell the acronym: Forgetting priorities, Anxiety, Speeding up, Ticked off, Exhausted, Relapse. Each carries a detailed list of behaviours, and the exercise asks you to identify which ones you recognize, circle the strongest in each section, and answer reflection questions about how they affect you and the people around you. One structural point matters: the scale runs one way only — you cannot climb back up it. The way out is what Dye calls the Double Bind, choosing the harder path of surrender to God over the easier coping mechanism, which lets you step off the scale entirely. Six pages, free from Cru, with two worked examples. One of the most practical free tools in this directory, and it works for any compulsive behaviour, not only sexual ones.
