Her argument is that children do not become competent digital citizens by exposure any more than they become competent readers by being handed books — it is taught, deliberately, in the years before the stakes get high. She covers digital citizenship, privacy, reputation, online relationships, critical thinking about what appears on a screen, and the developmental science underneath.
