What it is

Sex Addicts Anonymous is a twelve-step fellowship adapted from Alcoholics Anonymous, built on members sharing experience, strength and hope so that each can recover. Its foundation is the admission of powerlessness over sexual thoughts and behaviours and the discovery that recovery is possible in community. Meetings run in person, by phone and online worldwide, found through the meeting search at saa-recovery.org/meetings, with a first-meeting guide for people who are nervous about walking in. Free — groups are self-supporting through voluntary contributions. It is not religious and not affiliated with any church, though it uses spiritual principles and refers to a loving Higher Power that members interpret according to their own beliefs, which many Christians find works comfortably alongside their faith. For someone who needs a room tonight, in a city with no Christian group, this is usually what exists.
